Incandescent Light Bulbs
This light bulb produces light when an electric current passes through a filament, which causes it to glow. It was made by Thomas Edison in 1879 and is still commonly used today. There are three basic shapes of this type of light bulb. There is general, globe, and decorative (eg. teardrop.. etc.). There are also different types of it too, such as reflectorized, tungsten-halogen, and xenon. It is most commonly used for task lighting that would need high levels of brightness. Incandescent are usually found in residential buildings. Standard
incandescent bulbs are the most common and yet they are most inefficient. There are many advantages in getting incandescent light bulbs. Firstly, it is quite cheap to buy, turns off and on instantly, available in huge arrays of sizes and shape, and it provides a pleasant warm light with good colour radiation. However there are also some disadvantages to it, such as it has a short life span, and it is more expensive to operate than more newer and modern lighting types. Incandescent light bulbs are not very energy efficient though, and by the end of
the year, the world is planning to ban 40 watt and 60 watt incandescent light bulbs because of its inefficiency. They also release 90% of their energy as heat, and only 10% as actual light, which proves this light bulb is not very energy efficient.
